Like most Americans, I reacted to the news of the attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump on July 13th with a mixture of horror, morbid curiosity, and a sense of “this is history in the making.” Initially, I didn’t plan to write about this event, but after reading through too many reactions on Twitter (my sincere apologies to Thoreau and my soul), I felt compelled to share an insight from Ralbag on the first attempted assassination of a national leader in Tanach.
