This is my announcement for a major change I intend to make in my substack writing, and a chronicle of the epiphany which led to that change. Feel free to skip to the end for the bottom line.
I think this my favorite post of yours since the beginning of the Substack! I look forward to reading to what you are excited to write about. I actually did sense that some of the parsha articles occasionally lacked the unique "voice" of Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss... like the voice from this awesome line: "I realized that nearly all my troubles stemmed from my slavish adherence to the unwritten self-imposed commandment: 'thou shalt not write an article on a non-parashah topic until thou hast written an article on the parashah.'"
Ok and I went back and watched and you’re right. In my defense, I watched this while kids were literally tackling me. But I shouldn’t have opined on a video I didn’t fully watch.
When I initially heard the phrase "first principles thinking," I was like, "That's the type of thinking promoted by Aristotle, Rambam, Averroes, and Aquinas! Wonderful!" Then I realized that the tech-bros have a different meaning. :)
As for your suggestion, tell that to ANY writer (which is something I aspire to be) and watch them cringe.

Thank you for the feedback, Yehuda! Coming from you, it really means a lot, and I'm excited that you're excited! :)
Can’t watch right now (I’m out) but will say that I suggested it for editing, not writing ;-)
Ok I disagree with your brother. Using a calculator, microwave, or AI isn’t cheating
Judging by this comment alone, I feel like you COMPLETELY missed the entire point of his video.

Wonderful, I look forward to reading your stuff. Good luck in the new year!
The thing that Elon does (why do we need to do it this way?) is also called thinking from first principles.
Btw there’s a way to make your articles shorter without spending more time: give chatGPT your essay and ask it to shorten it.

On a related note: my brother has a good take on how AI should and shouldn't be used in writing, which he summarized in this 4 minute video.

Looking forward to these new articles!
Me too! :D
